How to adopt from Djurens Vänner Göteborg?
Our platform does not directly assist with the adoption process. We simply provide information to help you more easily search for animal shelters. All adoption procedures must be handled through the respective organizations. This ensures we do not interfere with their operations. If you need any assistance, feel free to contact us!
Visiting queue by email to the organization
Use the subject line “ Queue ” in your email that you send to: goteborg@djurensvanner.se
Answer the following question:
-
How do you live?
-
Who lives there (other people or animals)?
-
Is there access to a safe outdoor space or balcony? Is an indoor or outdoor cat suitable for your home?
-
Tell us briefly about yourself and those who live in your home.
-
Have you been a cat owner before? What are your thoughts on your future cat? If you have previous experience with more cautious or shy cats (and would be open to helping a not-quite-tame cat), we'd love to hear from you.
-
Are you open to adopting two cats? (Question that only applies to those who do not already have a cat)
-
Please send your phone number.
Then what?
The organization will reply to your email—please check your spam folder if you don’t hear back within a few days. They’ll ask you to confirm your spot in the visitor queue. Due to high demand, wait times are typically 2–4 weeks or longer. So if you have a thought, send the email as soon as possible.
Adoption fee?
A symbolic fee is charged to cover part of our costs for the cat in connection with the placement. The fee is currently 1600 SEK.
All cats are dewormed, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and registered with DjurID.se. Kittens that are too young to be neutered at the time of placement are neutered afterwards at Djurens Vänner's expense.
