Eragons is a volunteer-driven nonprofit in Göteborg dedicated to the rescue, welfare, and rehoming of guinea pigs. Originating from the founder’s personal rescue of two severely neglected guinea pigs in 2004, the organization has grown into a robust support hub—placing hundreds of small pets in loving homes annually. Eragons offers free Saturday care sessions, adoption and boarding services, educational resources, and self-help tools, all sustained through member support and donations.

How to Adopt from Eragon's?
Our platform does not directly assist with the adoption process. We simply provide information to help you more easily search for animal shelters. All adoption procedures must be handled through the respective organizations. This ensures we do not interfere with their operations. If you need any assistance, feel free to contact us!

We want you to do this to understand our view on how to care for your guinea pigs and to get an idea of what it is like to have a guinea pig.
You should make sure that you can keep these promises:

Take care of your guinea pigs responsibly for the rest of their lives, insure them ( Agria and Sveland are the companies that have small animal insurance) and seek veterinary care when necessary.

Do not breed the replacement guinea pig.

Do not sell, give away, or transfer the guinea pig without Eragon's consent.

You have at least two guinea pigs that can live together, preferably more.

Your name, address and phone number are forwarded to Eragons and are open to the previous owner.

You approve a visit from the previous owner.

Euthanasia will only take place if the veterinarian considers the animal to be seriously injured or sick and you send a death certificate as proof of this to Eragons.
Before you adopt, you sign a contract stating that these promises will be kept.
You must become a member of Eragon's. (250 SEK/year)

Then what?
The organization will only contact the interested party they believe is a good match for the guinea pig's needs. You can, of course, email them if you have any questions about the adoption process.
Adoption fee?
Female/Unneutered Male: 300 SEK
Castrated: 1500 SEK
* Eragon's arranged castration at a guinea pig-knowledgeable veterinarian and takes care of the aftercare, which is why our rehoming castrates cost more.
For first-time adopters, it is mandatory to purchase a starter kit for 200 SEK.
The starter kit consists of a scale, a bag of Critical Care, and a feeding syringe.
